I still appreciate an uncle who
took me skiing as a kid in the 1940’s. My leather boots have worn
out, but I still have the wood army skis and cable bindings. I have
a lot of fun memories form rope tows to 6 pack chairs. But what
really has been impressive is the wonderful times with The
Unrecables for more than 15 years.
Hal Ellis was responsible for my
introduction. After only one weekend the opportunity to volunteer
has been awesome ever since.
Besides skiing, I will never
forget the experience of kayaking on the San Francisco Bay and over
to Angel Island with everyone. I grew up in Oakland, attended U.C.
Berkeley and never thought I would be in a kayak close to the Golden
Gate Bridge with such a great group. This club is incredible! I
hope more members can have that experience.
Before retiring, I was an
administrator for all the California schools in the Palo Alto
Educational Systems for several years, then a manager for Xerox and
later years worked in the commercial real estate field. I am active
in my church which is where I met my husband Chuck. We have two
daughters and a son and four grandchildren four years and under. We
also enjoy The Over The Hill Gang ski club and being on the National
Red Cross Team and are CERT members.
It was a wonderful experience to
volunteer at the DSUSA SummerFest in Long Beach in 2003, and those
who participated had a great time! |
